History and Business Activity

NLB Banka Skopje is the third largest banking institution in North Macedonia by size. It is a subsidiary bank, with NLB holding an 86.97% capital stake.

 

On the market, it is the main financial partner in the development and support of their clients - medium and small companies - and a leading bank in retail loans. Their success is the result of favourable business conditions for the development of entrepreneurship, financing investment projects and export arrangements that enable the creation of new jobs, implementation of new technologies and modernisation of production lines.

 

We also service the entire range of financial operations for companies that have business relations with Slovenia and companies with Slovenian capital in North Macedonia. This is their way of helping to strengthen trade between Macedonian and Slovenian companies. They are proud that the majority of Slovenian capital investments in North Macedonia are facilitated by NLB Banka Skopje.

Meet Management Board members of NLB Banka Skopje

Toni Stojanovski
Toni Stojanovski President of the Management Board

Toni Stojanovski has been CEO, CFO, CMO for  corporate clienta nd President of the Management Board of NLB Banka Skopje since September 2024. He holds a master's degree in Economic Sciences in the field of monetary economics. He is a banking professional with several decades of work experience in the financial sector and a long-term member of various committees and organizations. Stojanovski came to this leading position in NLB Banka Skopje from Stopanska banka Skopje, where he was a member of the Management Board for 15 years, performing different senior management roles over the years. Previously, Stojanovski held senior management functions in the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, including the position of General Director of the Department for Supervision, Banking Regulation and Financial Stability.

Igor Davčevski is COO and Member of the Management Board of NLB Banka Skopje. Davčevski is an industry professional who started his banking career as a Manager of card department in the International Private Bank. He joined NLB Banka 20 years ago, and during this time he has been constantly performing various managerial functions, finally progressing to the position of a Member of the Management Board in January 2020. He is specialized in the field of strategic & operational planning, product development, payment systems & technologies and more. He has a university degree in the field of electronics and telecommunications and he finished his master's studies at the Bled School of Management.

Peter Zelen has been serving as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and a Member of the Management Board of NLB Banka Skopje since January 2020. With as many as 26 years of banking experience and extensive managerial expertise across various leadership roles, Zelen brings a solid foundation to his position.

Before joining NLB Banka Skopje, he worked at NLB d.d. from 2010, where he held managerial positions concentrating on credit risk management, debt restructuring, and the oversight of non-performing assets. He also possesses significant expertise in both corporate and retail commercial lending. Zelen has held several supervisory board positions within the NLB Group. Currently, he serves as the Deputy President of the Supervisory Board of NLB Pristina and President of the Risk Committee.

Katerina Jankovic is a financial expert with more than two decades of experience in the banking sector. Working for two large banking Groups, Societe Generale and Steiermärkische Sparkasse, Katerina has climbed all the ladders to senior management positions, gaining vast experience and expertise in the field of corporate and retail banking, with a special emphasis on sales strategy, planning and introducing new banking products. She joins the Management board of NLB Banka Skopje from Sparkasse Banka Skopje, where she held the position of Director of the Retail Sector since 2021. Katerina possesses deep expertise in financial markets, regulatory frameworks and risk management, exceptional communication, and leadership skills. Her strategic approach played a key role in the merger and integration of Ohridska and Sparkasse Banka in 2021, confirming her ability to manage in conditions of major transformations and run processes in complex business landscapes.  She holds a degree in Economics from the University of „St. Cyril and Methodius“ in Skopje and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of „Sheffield“ in Thessaloniki. In addition to her professional achievements, she is a dedicated wife and mother of two sons.
