Banking history over 200 years

The museum, created under the auspices of NLB, showcases interesting past and present banking practices in an interactive way.

You can enter the bank vault, which was still in use until recently, and see the safes and the inside of an ATM.

We want to bring banking closer to the people

The Slovenian Banking Museum aims to present to visitors the importance of money, banks and banking practices, and to show the impact they have had on our lives over their 200-year history in Slovenia - from the first savings bank to digital mobile wallets.

We want every visitor to come out of the museum richer by a new realisation: Money plays an important role in our lives, but it is how we manage it that has the biggest impact on our lives.

The museum’s permanent exhibition is divided into three thematic chapters:

the development of banking with a global history of banking services and the history of Slovenian banking,
the presentation of banking practices,
a financial maze that serves as a personal financial literacy centre.

MUZA gallery opens its doors with the Echo exhibition

The opening exhibition is titled Echo | NLB Contemporary Art Collection in Dialogue. We present 70 works of art from the NLB Art Collection, including newly purchased works and two commissioned works, as well as older works from the collection of 20th-century Slovenian art. Two winning works from a public international competition for young artists are also on display.
